Careers at Verdera

Build something that
doesn't have a
playbook yet.

We're assembling the core team to turn climate adaptation from a consulting problem into an infrastructure problem. If that distinction matters to you, we should talk.

This isn't a startup
selling dashboards.

The institutions that respond to climate risk: governments, development banks, corporations. They are still running on consulting models built for a slower world. They have the mandate and the money. They don't have the machinery. Verdera is building that machinery.

That means we are embedded inside institutions, not pitching from outside them. We work where the decisions actually get made: in the planning cycles of national ministries, the investment committees of development finance bodies, the operational systems of intergovernmental agencies. Our first anchor client is UNICEF. We are already deployed.

"The team that builds the operating system for climate adaptation will need to think in systems, operate in institutions, and move like a startup."

Forward-deployed, fast,
and rigorous: in that order.

The team Verdera is assembling has to do something most climate organisations can't: move quickly without losing credibility, operate inside institutions without becoming one, and build something technically serious without hiding behind jargon.

We work at the frontier by design. The problems are not solved. The tools are not obvious. The clients are not easy. That's the job, and it's the most interesting version of it.

Verdera team in working context

Four things that are
true about working here.

These are not aspirational values on a wall. They are how decisions get made.

01
We build, we don't advise.

The output could be dashboards, agents, digital twins, or even static reports; but it always based on real data, rigorous analysis and deep integration with the client. If the work doesn't persist inside the client's workflow after we leave the room, it wasn't the work.

02
Speed is a feature.

The adaptation gap compounds. Every month of slow procurement, slow scoping, or slow deployment is a month of capital that didn't move. We treat speed as a design constraint, not an afterthought.

03
Sharp decision-making over uncertainty and confusion.

The data is never clean. The context is always political. The right answer is rarely obvious. We develop and trust judgement, and we've built the tools to make that judgement traceable and defensible.

04
Depth before scale.

We don't chase coverage. We go deep into a small number of high-stakes deployments and do those exceptionally well. That's how trust compounds in this market. That's also how the product gets better.

Three kinds of people
make Verdera work.

Field deployment or institutional context
Climate &
Domain Experts

You've worked inside the institutions we serve: government ministries, development banks, engineering consultancies, intergovernmental bodies. You understand how decisions actually get made: the political economy of a procurement cycle, the difference between a policy commitment and an operational one, the specific language that earns credibility in a room full of senior bureaucrats. You're not a generalist who read a report. You've been in the room.

AI & Product
Builders

You build systems that encode judgement, not just retrieve data. You understand the difference between a demo and a deployment. You've worked on domain-specific AI, agentic workflows, or reasoning-heavy systems, and you care deeply about the gap between what a model can generate and what an institution can actually use. You're comfortable with ambiguity in the problem space and intolerant of it in the product.

Deployment
Leads

You are the connective tissue between what Verdera builds and how it runs inside a client organisation. You scope engagements, manage the messy middle of a live deployment, and understand that the hardest part of infrastructure is not building it: it's making it stick. You've worked at the intersection of client management and product, and you're drawn to the specific challenge of making a technical system legible to non-technical decision-makers.

"Early Verdera is a small team doing high-stakes work. Every person here will be close to the problem, close to the client, and close to the decision."

An honest note

This isn't the right fit for everyone,
and that's fine.

Verdera is not a place for people who need a defined scope before they start, or who are most comfortable when the path is already proven. The work requires operating in ambiguity, building trust with institutions that are slow by design, and caring about the outcome enough to push through the friction.

If you don't want to get your hands dirty: this isn't that. If you want neat funnels and clean dashboards: this isn't that either. The people who thrive here find something energising about working in the gap between what exists and what needs to exist. That gap is large. The work is real.

What we're hiring
for right now.

We're currently building across climate and domain expertise, AI and product, and deployment. Below is what's open. If you're a strong fit and don't see a specific role listed, reach out anyway. We build the team around the right people.

Don't see your role here? Send us a note anyway. Tell us who you are and what you're working on.
